To make up for its harsh winters, Chicago comes alive with a vengeance in the summer. There are street festivals in the different neighborhoods, concerts in the parks, people running along the lakefront, etc. It seems as if everyone is trying to enjoy Chicago extra vigorously to sustain themselves through the winter. I love walking around downtown on warm summer evenings when all of the buildings are lit up, enjoying the sense of life that seems to pulsate through the city. This picture was taken in Grant Park at Buckingham Fountain in downtown Chicago, a city I’ve been fortunate enough to call home for the past five years. The fountain is lit up with colored lights at night, and set against the backdrop of the Chicago skyline, it is a magical sight.
